Raymond Sandbags at Hyrox Pro Mens

I’m a personal trainer and nutrition advisor based in Ayr, but more importantly, I’m a business owner, husband and a proud father of two daughters.

My background is rooted in competitive youth swimming, but as life progressed - navigating university, building a career as an architect, and stepping into fatherhood - my fitness took a back seat. I know exactly what it’s like to pour all your energy into your career and your family, only to realise you’ve neglected the very engine driving it all: your own health. I woke up one day realising I wasn't showing up as the energetic, vibrant husband and father my family deserved.

That wake-up call changed everything. I chose to stop chasing quick fixes and comfort, and instead invested in my long-term health - not just to look better, but to set an example for my daughters and ensure I’m moving with vitality decades down the road. This introspection led me to Personal training and embrace what I call the THRE Ethos: Train Hard, Rest Easy.

This philosophy stretches far beyond the gym floor; it’s an ecosystem of effort, preparation, and recovery.

I don't believe in extremes or viewing fitness as a chore. My coaching takes a holistic approach that focuses on the compounding power of small habits: from the Micro (the daily discipline of preparation the night before) to the Macro (lifting heavy today so you maintain your independence tomorrow). Together, we look at the whole picture - strength, nutrition, hydration, sleep, and stress management.

We don't train just to burn calories; we train to build a resilient mind and a bulletproof body. When you show up, put in the work, and communicate honestly, you earn your peace. You don't just collapse into exhaustion at the end of the day; you rest deeply and completely because you know the work has been done.

No matter your age, I am here to help you reclaim your lost vitality, discipline your body, and prepare your mind. Let’s prepare for tomorrow, show up for today, and build a life that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside.

F A Q

WHERE DO YOU TRAIN CLIENTS?

I run training sessions at 'HY Performance Club', 62 Viewfield Road, Ayr, KA8 8HH (formerly LivFit Training Academy).

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO TRAIN WITH YOU?

This depends on your goals. I would recommend for beginners at least 2 sessions per week, so that we can run through everything you need to know to allow you to train efficiently on your own. However, it really depends on your circumstances and what you want to achieve. We can create fantastic results with 1 PT session per week, complimented with additional sessions on your own.

DO I NEED TO HAVE A GYM MEMBERSHIP TO TRAIN WITH YOU?

No, a gym membership is not required to train with me.  However, if you want to use the gym outwith PT sessions you would need to be a member. You can also be a member at another gym and still come along and train with me at HY Performance Club.

DOES IT MATTER IF I'VE NEVER BEEN TO THE GYM?

Absolutely not!  I am here to help anyone of any level to achieve their goals. It's never too late to start training.  In fact, beginners often see the best results.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A PT SESSION?

A personal training session will normally last for one hour. This will follow along the lines of a brief warm-up followed by your main training programme where you will focus on your goals using cardiovascular, strength or flexibility exercises. Finally there will be a cool down or relaxation period. Programmes may vary from one session to the next according to your needs and progress.
